The composition and crystal structure of a "green phase" present as impurity in YBCO samples prepared in platinum crucibles is described. The phase derives from attack of platinum crucible during the chemical reaction. Y2Ba3Cu2PtO10 is monoclinic (space group C 2/m) with a=12.518(2), b=5.828(1), c=7.362(1) Å and β=105.44(2)°. The structure was refined from 321 unique observed reflections to R = 0.048. Even if the lattice differs from that of the well known "green phase" Y2 BaCuO5, a correlation exists between the two phases showing similar lattice constants. Single crystals of this phase were obtained in growth experiments of YBCO crystals by HTSG from CuO-BaO fluxes in platinum crucibles.

Abstract
Single crystals of this phase were obtained in growth experiments of YBCO crystals by HTSG from CuO-BaO fluxes in platinum crucibles.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
