A finite element computing procedure has been set up to improve the techniques of predicting the acoustic field within a vehicle compartement. The perfectly rigid wall scheme, assumed in a previous work [Il. is dropped here. The computing procedure has been checked on a cavity of simple geometry by comparing the results with the analytical ones and with experimental outcomes. The agreement of the results suggests the numerical technique as a complement of a dynamic structural analysis to predict the acoustic field in the early stage of the design.

Abstract
