In this work, the structural behaviour of precast prestressed hollow core floors with large openings is studied, by performing nonlinear finite element analyses. In order to verify the procedure, a European experimental program carried out on a hollow core floor provided with an opening at one end has been first modelled. The proposed numerical approach has then been applied to analyse the mechanical behaviour of several floors, characterized by different thickness and by different dimensions of opening, providing some useful general observations concerning ultimate and serviceability state conditions.
