This paper transfers the method already proposed by the authors to the case of turbocharged diesel engines. The algorithms that guarantee a sufficient accuracy are generally those that calculate the wave effects, but these, even in a modern calculating machine, are not able to provide a result in real time, as is normally required in applications provided to control systems. On the other hand the algorithms, which does not evaluate the wave effects are certainly quick to calculate, but not accurate enough in the results. In this context, a widely used solution used up to now is the "black box" model, but thi model forces to numerous bench tests (which must be carried out again if the system is modified, even slightly). Also in this case has been defined mathematical correlations useful to correct the results of algorithms 0-D.
