It is shown that wavelength translation mitigates the blocking of cells substantidly in cross-connected networks. By increasing the number of wavelengths and employing wavelength translation, the probability of deflection can be reduced, which in turn leads to a significant improvement in the teletraffc perrormance of the network.

Abstract

It is shown that wavelength translation mitigates the blocking of cells substantidly in cross-connected networks. By increasing the number of wavelengths and employing wavelength translation, the probability of deflection can be reduced, which in turn leads to a significant improvement in the teletraffc perrormance of the network.
