The article discusses the first symptomatic case of glossopharyngeal neuralgia due to a cerebellopontine angle mass presented in 1910 by T.H. Weisenberg. The disease in uncommon, a review of health records between 1945 and 1984, yielded a very low number of cases. Disease frequency increases with age and it does not seem to have a different distribution in males and females. There are conflicting data about seasonal recurrence.
