L'"OTTOCENTO" TEDESCO DI ANTONIO LABRIOLA

Sommario L’ampia e approfondita conoscenza che Antonio Labriola aveva della filosofia e più in generale della cultura tedesca nel diciannovesimo secolo viene ricostruita e valutata in questo saggio per comprendere il peculiare modo in cui Labriola ha interpretato il materialismo storico. Attraverso la ricostruzione dei complessi rapporti del filosofo italiano con il pensiero di Herbart, Lotze, Wilhelm von Humboldt, Lazarus, Steinthal, Droysen, Böckh, Bernheim, Theodor Lipps, Paul Drobisch – ricostruzione basata sui testi di Labriola ma anche sul suo ricco epistolario – vengono messi i luce i nessi teorici che lo hanno condotto alle posizioni espresse nei diversi saggi sul materialismo storico; in particolare, viene affrontato in tutto il pensiero di Labriola lo sviluppo dei concetti di storia e di leggi storiche. E’ stato così possibile inserire il pensiero di Labriola nel contesto della filosofia europea del diciannovesimo secolo e cioè nel dibattito metodologico su scienze della natura e scienze dello spirito e della cultura, nel dibattito sulle implicazioni filosofiche della teoria darwiniana dell’evoluzione, nella genesi dello storicismo. Risulta così con chiarezza come il modo in cui Antonio Labriola ha elaborato originalmente il rapporto tra storicismo e materialismo storico costituisca uno degli aspetti più significativi della storia della filosofia italiana. Abstract The research reconstructs and considers the wide and profound knowledge of german philosophy and generally german culture of the nineteenth century of which Antonio Labriola has been in possession, for comprehending his peculiar interpretation of the historical materialism. By means of the reconstruction of the complex relations of the Italian philosopher with the way of thinking of Herbart, Lotze, Wilhelm von Humboldt, Lazarus, Steinthal, Droysen, Böckh, Bernheim, Theodor Lipps, Paul, Drobisch – a reconstruction based both on the texts and the rich collection of letters of Labriola – , the theoretical connections are highlighted on which his essays on historical materialism are founded. Particularly the research is dealing with the development of the concepts of history and of historical laws in all the course of Labriola’s thought. It was also possible to insert Labriola’s thought in the context of the European philosophy of the nineteenth century, namely in the methodological debate on the distinction between natural sciences and cultural sciences, in the debate on the philosophical implications of the Darwin’s theory of the evolution, in the origins of the historicism. It appears so clearly that Antonio Labriola has developed in a novel way the relations between historicism and historical materialism and that his thought represents an important stage in the Italian history of philosophy.
