Chronic superficial keratitis (CSK), or pannus, is a disease seen most commonly in the German Sheperd. The clinical signs seen with CSK are the vascularization and pigmentation of the cornea. The cause of CSK is probably immune-mediated and this disease is probably associated with ultraviolet radiation. A related condition where a similar immunemediate reaction is confined to the conjunctiva and the third eyelid is called plasmoma. In this study we considered 89 dogs referred to a specialistic visit for CSK and/or plasmoma. The aim of this study was to identify the correlation between CSK and plasmoma of the third eyelid and the answer of these pathologies to the medical therapy.

Abstract
Chronic superficial keratitis (CSK), or pannus, is a disease seen most commonly in the German Sheperd. The clinical signs seen with CSK are the vascularization and pigmentation of the cornea. The cause of CSK is probably immune-mediated and this disease is probably associated with ultraviolet radiation. A related condition where a similar immunemediate reaction is confined to the conjunctiva and the third eyelid is called plasmoma. In this study we considered 89 dogs referred to a specialistic visit for CSK and/or plasmoma. The aim of this study was to identify the correlation between CSK and plasmoma of the third eyelid and the answer of these pathologies to the medical therapy.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
