The sound scattering properties of diffusing panels are actually very difficult to measure and to predict. In this paper the Wave Field Synthesis approach is employed for the experimental measurement of the scattering coefficient. The results are in good agreement with the numerical simulations made possible by some recent improvements to the Pyramid Tracing algorithm, which takes into account separately the scattering of sound from the edges of finitesize surfaces, and the surface scattering coefficient.

Abstract
The sound scattering properties of diffusing panels are actually very difficult to measure and to predict. In this paper the Wave Field Synthesis approach is employed for the experimental measurement of the scattering coefficient. The results are in good agreement with the numerical simulations made possible by some recent improvements to the Pyramid Tracing algorithm, which takes into account separately the scattering of sound from the edges of finitesize surfaces, and the surface scattering coefficient.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
