The operation management in shipping/receiving docks is a significant source of competitive differentiation between firms. Its improvement has direct fallouts in both internal logistics and supply chain performances, because it makes it possible to streamline the flow of goods through the logistics pipeline, thus improving the overall logistics service provided at the same time. This paper addresses the issue of how to optimally manage priorities in the shipping/receiving docks of a Distribution Centre (DC), where goods have to be either shipped to customers or received from factories. A fuzzy multi-attribute, dynamic time-based approach to the sequencing of inbound and outbound flows is presented. The model aims at streamlining the logistics flows of the DC by prioritizing the most critical shipments and deliveries. The model is particularly tailored for a direct in-field application by practitioners in the Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) industry. Its applicability and consistency have been verified using a simulation model which refers to a Procter & Gamble (PG) Distribution Centre.

Abstract
Its applicability and consistency have been verified using a simulation model which refers to a Procter & Gamble (PG) Distribution Centre.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
