Abstract

Dispersion interactions and EnT relay were exploited to increase the efficiency of visible light-promoted reactions. The use of Naphthalene or poly-NP additives allowed us to improve product yields and shorten the reaction times of several EnT-based methods thanks to stabilizing dispersion interactions. Furthermore, the discovery of a possible triplet state relay phenomenon through the use of a binaphthyl co-catalyst enabled the development of a new synthetic route to prepare highly strained products, such as azetidines. This concept holds for vast future applications as a new extraordinary direct O-H activation strategy via intermolecular HAT was very recently discovered.
