This work consists in a study about a series of literary or documentary manuscripts written in roman languages (that is to say Italian, Old French or Old Occitan), which probably had been made in Bologna (or very conterminous areas). The section dedicated to every single manuscript, which focuses on a single sheet that serves as a sample of the entire manuscript, has a tripartite structure: in the first part, there is a description of the manuscript’s material features (codicological, paleographycal and about the decoration); the second part deals with the text and the language in which it is written (trying to distinguish the language of the copyst to that of the text itself); in the third part there is a digital reproduction of the examined sheet, followed by a transcription of the latter. The study of these manuscripts, which were first selected according to their paleographical and, secondary, to their decoration and language, reaffirms the trailing role of Bologna in the late Middle Ages: as a matter of fact, this city was not only a point of spreading of the italian literature, but generally a driving force behind lots of cultural changes in the Middle Age.
