In this work a wearable sensor for personal monitoring has been developed: the main features of the system are fall detection and gait quality analysis. The system is based on a MEMS accelerometer. Two different approaches are illustrated, one using only commercially available devices and one exploring a System-in-Package solution. The latter implementation is focused on the project of a MEMS capacitive accelerometer. The design has been validated with some tests on the fabricated device.
