Message from general co-chairs

For the second time the IEEE Conference on Enabling Technologies, Infrastructure for Collaborative Enterprises (WETICE) is held in Emilia Romagna, an Italian Region known for good food and sport cars, but WETICE choice remarks the importance of the Region also for Computer Science and Information Technology. In 2004 the conference was hosted in Modena, while in 2014 is hosted in Parma, two cities with old universities. We hope that attendees would enjoy the scientific content of the conference, the chances of discussion and also the social events. Being involved in the organization of WETICE in Modena in 2004, we can remark some considerations about the evolution of WETICE in the last 10 years. In 2004 we had 6 tracks (in the form of workshops) and an acceptance rate of 69%; in 2014 we have 14 tracks and an acceptance rate of 50%, as detailed in the Program Chairs’ Report. This clearly points out two evolutions: first, WETICE has increased and differentiated the addressed topics, still keeping the umbrella of “enabling technologies and infrastructures for collaborative enterprises”; second, the quality of the accepted papers is supposed to be increased, because the acceptance rate is decreased. Another consideration is related to the involved tracks: they were able to evolve and often they change their name in order to adapt to the changes in the world of Information Technology.
