Ecco la traduzione in inglese: Synopsis "The container," writes Paolo Fossati in 1991, "is a beautiful point of reasoning, and for historians something akin to a godsend. But on one condition alone: that within the container are held facts and modes, and therefore 'tastes,' that are not only not identical to one another, but not even coordinated to be so […]. Unless a patient examination of 'taste' — and above all of tastes (of the painter, the architect, of audiences and areas of supply, of the various occasions, of the market and of ideas — received and issued — of institutions and of criticism, etc., etc.) — should allow the identification of common ground on which the different productions converge simultaneously." This volume originates from a departmental research project, carried out between 2018 and 2020, entitled Architecture in Piedmont, excluding the territory of Turin, from 1945 to the present. A selection of works of significant historical and artistic interest, which involved the critical construction and compilation of a catalogue of 150 architect-designed buildings for the census campaign promoted since the 2000s by the General Directorate for Contemporary Creativity of the Ministry of Culture. The individual contributions drafted at that time by the research group and published on the ministerial platform (https://censimentoarchitetturecontemporanee.cultura.gov.it/) have, following a further temporal and contextual selection, been reworked and expanded in content for this publication. The invitation to reflect on these themes was extended to the institutions involved, to young scholars, and to the series' scientific committee. "Once the tables of presences have been established (whether those cited or others, it matters little)," writes Paolo Fossati again in 1993 — and, pushing the point further, in the present volume, narrowing the timeframe to the 1950s and 1960s and the deliberate "staging" of just over fifty works built in Piedmont — the attempt has been to preserve their testimonial value as intact as possible, through original documentation, authors' own accounts, drawings, and beautiful period photographs — from project to completed work — deliberately setting aside, therefore, the later period of functional modifications and figurative alterations. The works catalogued here, organized into six sections — community centres; schools and leisure facilities; religious buildings; industry and production; Ina-Casa housing and dwellings for industrial workers and employees; single-family houses and villas — highlight, moreover, a significant moment of typological and figurative reflection, and the most notable aspects of a season of great theoretical-critical and linguistic experimentation, as well as the meaning and value still to be recognized in the intentions and militant commitment of certain protagonists of Italian architecture — the subject of monographic studies within this series, which since 2018 has become the collection titled Twentieth-Century Italian Architects. The volume continues the series inaugurated in 2012 under the deanship of the School of Civil Architecture at the Politecnico di Milano, with the publication of the conference proceedings on Ernesto Nathan Rogers, on the occasion of the centenary of his birth, Guido Canella (2014), Carlo De Carli (2016), Roberto Gabetti (2017), Giorgio Raineri (2020), and those dedicated to The Right to Preservation. Architect-Designed Works of the Second Half of the Twentieth Century (2019) and to The Memorial Monument. Figuration and Plastic Tension as a Moral Imperative (2025).
Figurazione e tensione plastica come istanza morale (2025).

Abstract
Ecco la traduzione in inglese: Synopsis "The container," writes Paolo Fossati in 1991, "is a beautiful point of reasoning, and for historians something akin to a godsend. But on one condition alone: that within the container are held facts and modes, and therefore 'tastes,' that are not only not identical to one another, but not even coordinated to be so […].
