This volume collects three separate albeit strictly interwined studies on medieval theories of concepts and intentional objects. In these studies, the principal focus is on human beings’ mechanisms of intellective cognition of extramental things, especially on the accounts offered by two eminent authors of the late Middle Ages, namely the Dominicans Thomas Aquinas (1224/25–1274) and Hervaeus Natalis (ca. 1260–1323). In these studies, it will be proven that Thomas Aquinas's and Hervaeus Natalis's theories of cognition lie in between direct realism and representationalism.

Abstract
This volume collects three separate albeit strictly interwined studies on medieval theories of concepts and intentional objects. In these studies, the principal focus is on human beings’ mechanisms of intellective cognition of extramental things, especially on the accounts offered by two eminent authors of the late Middle Ages, namely the Dominicans Thomas Aquinas (1224/25–1274) and Hervaeus Natalis (ca. 1260–1323). In these studies, it will be proven that Thomas Aquinas's and Hervaeus Natalis's theories of cognition lie in between direct realism and representationalism.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
