We proceed here from the primary postulate that an operator such as the so-called «possessive personal pronoun» in Spanish indicates a grammatical relationship between a given noun and a person in the discourse, thus producing extralinguistic effects of meaning such as possession. We successively analyze the different degree of presupposition with which apparently equivalent «possessive» operators usually work in different languages. This analysis will lead us to establish an operational profile for the Spanish «possessive», which would allow us to account for its functioning in discourse.

Abstract
We proceed here from the primary postulate that an operator such as the so-called «possessive personal pronoun» in Spanish indicates a grammatical relationship between a given noun and a person in the discourse, thus producing extralinguistic effects of meaning such as possession. We successively analyze the different degree of presupposition with which apparently equivalent «possessive» operators usually work in different languages. This analysis will lead us to establish an operational profile for the Spanish «possessive», which would allow us to account for its functioning in discourse.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
