Requirements for water in olive growing are highly differentiated due to the extreme heterogeneity, comparing the Regions in which olive is cultivated. Climate, slopes, and soil are factors affecting evapotranspiration and water avail ability. Irrigation approaches are also determined by the development status of the plant. Irrigation with salty water is possible based on the cultivars. Subirrigation and controlled deficit irrigation are probably the latest, more sustainable approaches.

Abstract
Requirements for water in olive growing are highly differentiated due to the extreme heterogeneity, comparing the Regions in which olive is cultivated. Climate, slopes, and soil are factors affecting evapotranspiration and water avail ability. Irrigation approaches are also determined by the development status of the plant. Irrigation with salty water is possible based on the cultivars. Subirrigation and controlled deficit irrigation are probably the latest, more sustainable approaches.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
