This article aims to provide a series of contrastive analyses that can illustrate the different strategies and procedures that intralingual translators can employ. Thus, after a brief review of the relevant literature, the article discusses a number of examples from a variety of literary and nonliterary texts. It will be shown that, although the procedures proposed here are specifically adapted to intralingual translation, they are occasionally appropriated from other settings, particularly interlingual and intersemiotic translation. For this reason, their value – though inevitably adapted to the new (intralingual) context – serves as further evidence of the place that intralingual practices occupy within the aims and scope of translation studies

Abstract
This article aims to provide a series of contrastive analyses that can illustrate the different strategies and procedures that intralingual translators can employ. Thus, after a brief review of the relevant literature, the article discusses a number of examples from a variety of literary and nonliterary texts. It will be shown that, although the procedures proposed here are specifically adapted to intralingual translation, they are occasionally appropriated from other settings, particularly interlingual and intersemiotic translation. For this reason, their value – though inevitably adapted to the new (intralingual) context – serves as further evidence of the place that intralingual practices occupy within the aims and scope of translation studiesI documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
