Our research focuses on the different components of audiovisual text and their role in creating meaning. By analysing them, we aim to understand how they produce meaning. This examination is crucial if we want to accurately describe images. We examine one of the latest forms of audiovisual translation, which is audio description. We reflect on the need for semiotic analysis of the codes used to translate images into words, i.e., to transfer an iconic code into an acoustic code.
