Focusing on Lord Byron’s Ravenna Journal (January-February 1821), this essay explores his writing of the city, its region, people, and historical-political context by throwing light on the constant oscillations of his point of view between the here and now and a multiple – spatial-geographical and temporal – elsewhere, thus offering a reappraisal of the diary’s distinctive combination of sited, local perspectives with transnational, cosmopolitan, and universalizing concerns.

Abstract
Focusing on Lord Byron’s Ravenna Journal (January-February 1821), this essay explores his writing of the city, its region, people, and historical-political context by throwing light on the constant oscillations of his point of view between the here and now and a multiple – spatial-geographical and temporal – elsewhere, thus offering a reappraisal of the diary’s distinctive combination of sited, local perspectives with transnational, cosmopolitan, and universalizing concerns.File in questo prodotto:
