A new sensing platform for specific DNA strand detection based on microstructured optical fiber Bragg gratings and peptide nucleic acid probes is presented. To achieve optical signal amplification, DNA-functionalized gold nanoparticles are used in a sandwich-like system assay, showing high sensitivity and repeatability of the results. Besides the particular technological approach, we report some practical applications implemented in the medical field and in the food industry.

Abstract
A new sensing platform for specific DNA strand detection based on microstructured optical fiber Bragg gratings and peptide nucleic acid probes is presented. To achieve optical signal amplification, DNA-functionalized gold nanoparticles are used in a sandwich-like system assay, showing high sensitivity and repeatability of the results. Besides the particular technological approach, we report some practical applications implemented in the medical field and in the food industry.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
