Italy's primary school texts in the aftermath of the Second World War undoubtedly responded to a desire to mark a discontinuity with the contents of the nationalistic rhetoric that the texts of the Fascist period exuded. The 1945 programmes declared in their preface that “In the new Italian primary school a lively feeling of human brotherhood that goes beyond the narrow limits of nationalism should dominate”. This process, however, encountered various difficulties, and behind a strongly asserted discontinuity and behind contradictory openings to the theme of international cooperation, the school texts on primary school desks of the new Italy were able to pass through heavy persistence at the level of imagery, words and narrative structures of the recent past. This situation was unexpectedly facilitated by the post-war national and international political context.

Abstract
This situation was unexpectedly facilitated by the post-war national and international political context.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
