This edited volume examines the management and public communication of the Covid-19 pandemic from a critical, interdisciplinary perspective. Bringing together scholars from different fields, the book argues that the public debate surrounding the pandemic was often constrained by technocratic narratives and media polarization that marginalized dissenting voices. By revisiting contested issues—from epidemiological strategies and lockdown policies to the political economy of vaccines and the role of scientific expertise—the volume aims to reopen a pluralistic discussion on health governance, democratic deliberation and the social consequences of emergency policies.

Abstract
This edited volume examines the management and public communication of the Covid-19 pandemic from a critical, interdisciplinary perspective. Bringing together scholars from different fields, the book argues that the public debate surrounding the pandemic was often constrained by technocratic narratives and media polarization that marginalized dissenting voices. By revisiting contested issues—from epidemiological strategies and lockdown policies to the political economy of vaccines and the role of scientific expertise—the volume aims to reopen a pluralistic discussion on health governance, democratic deliberation and the social consequences of emergency policies.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
