Ambasciatori, cerimoniali e informazione politica: il sistema diplomatico e le sue fonti

The paper provides keys to understanding and interpreting diplomatic sources both from the point of view of the correct reading of the document, and through the proper historical framework. Are examined in particular Instructions for ambassadors, Correspondence exchanged with the sovereigns and with the secretariats of the government, and diplomatic Reports delivered at the end of the stay. They are also commented the most recent historiographical perspectives on diplomatic sources and the possibilities for future researches.

Il saggio fornisce chiavi di lettura e interpretazione delle fonti diplomatiche sia sotto il punto di vista della corretta lettura del documento, che attraverso il corretto inquadramento storico. Sono esaminate in particolar modo le Istruzioni per gli ambasciatori, i Carteggi scambiati con i sovrani e con le segreterie di governo e le Relazioni consegnate dai diplomatici a fine mandato. Sono inoltre commentate le più recenti prospettive storiografiche sulle fonti diplomatiche e le prospettive di ricerca future.
