The paper examines the different types of political commission that can be conferred to the ambassadors. It focuses on of the case of the Grand Duke of Tuscany and on the qualification of extraordinary ambassador, usually given to members of the grand ducal family, and highlights the fact that beside the dynastic factors for the choice of the figures to be sent have been important also the political orientations of the Grand Duke and the confidence that linked him to some ambassadors.
Il saggio prende in esame le differenti tipologie di mandato politico che possono essere conferite agli ambasciatori. Si sofferma sul caso del granduca di Toscana e sulla qualifica di ambasciatore straordinario, di solito affidato a membri della famiglia granducale, e mette in luce il fatto che accanto ai fattori dinastici per la scelta delle figure da inviare abbiano avuto un peso anche gli orientamenti politici del granduca e la fiducia che lo legava ad alcuni ambasciatori
