This book analyzes political and diplomatic relations as well as cultural exchanges between Tuscany and Spain, from a new perspective that has passed the traditional approaches and has contributed to the opening of new historiography on diplomacy and political history. Relations between the two states are examined not only in the context of the history of the interstate political equilibrium, but also, and above all, by analyzing the initiatives undertaken by the Grand Duke and his ambassadors in the field of the diplomatic and cultural system.

In questo libro si analizzano le relazioni politiche e diplomatiche così come gli scambi culturali fra Toscana e Spagna, da una nuova prospettiva che ha superato gli approcci tradizionali e ha contribuito all'apertura di nuove correnti storiografiche sulla diplomazia e la storia politica. Le relazioni tra i due stati sono esaminate non solo nel contesto della storia degli equilibri politici interstatali, ma anche, e soprattutto, analizzando le iniziative avviate dal Granduca e dei suoi ambasciatori nel campo del sistema informativo-diplomatico e culturale.
