Ambasciatori "minori" nella Spagna di età moderna. Uno sguardo europeo

In this paper are considered the researches that arise from the study of the representation of "minor" States and not fully sovereign organisms at the Court of Spain in the early modern Age, as part of an approach to the History of Diplomacy that wants to propose new paths of research. The essays deal with the Hanseatic City, the Swiss Confederation, of the vice-royalty of Naples, the principality of Tuscany, England in the convulsive years of the First Revolution and the United Provinces. In this sense it is highlighted the fact that the research on relations between States and on diplomacy can no longer be separated from those on the internal political structure of the “minor” States: from monarchies (composite monarchies, polycentric monarchies, etc.), to the republics or the confederations of states; from unions of cities to small states etc.

Il volume presenta saggi che considerano la rappresentanza di Stati "minori" o di organismi non pienamente sovrani alla Corte di Spagna nella prima età moderna, con un approccio alla storia della diplomazia che vuole aprire inedite piste di indagine nel quadro ampio della nuova storia politica e sociale. I saggi trattano delle Città anseatiche, della Confederazione svizzera, del viceregno di Napoli, del principato di Toscana, dell'Inghilterra negli anni convulsi della Prima Rivoluzione e delle Province Unite. La scelta di individuare stati "minori", le cui strutture interne non pienamente definite si riflettono anche nei rapporti con gli altri stati, mette in luce la necessità di riconnettere lo studio dei rapporti interstatali con quello della struttura interna di ciascuno di essi (Stati compositi, Stati policentrici, ecc.) e suggerisce quindi nuovi temi di studio.
