Tramiti. Figure e strumenti della mediazione culturale nella prima età moderna

Tramiti ("Mediums") are actors in this volume of cultural communication and transnational politics, but also books and manuscripts that convey experiences and knowledge by creating reciprocal ties. Focusing attention on the issue of the analysis of the circulation, the essays collected here focus shifting figures, sometimes with fluid and mobile bonds of belonging. It is the Court physicians, able to heal the bodies and to penetrate the minds, taking the role of informants or mediators, diplomats who write historical works and political reflection, translators who handle texts and adapt them to new contexts of reception, business men in cultural patronage are resource not only for professional strategies and social but also for broader political designs, dissidents operating in the situation of exile. The consideration of human mobility - of doctors, scholars, diplomats, religious dissidents - is interwoven with reflection on how the operations of translation, the use of multilingualism on the emergence of fields of knowledge as the Naturalis Historia: are resources of mediation cultural that help create, even in situations of sectarian conflicts, dynamic interaction that redefine the difficult terrain of the construction of modern Europe. Tramiti sono in questo volume attori di comunicazione culturale e politica transnazionale, ma anche libri e manoscritti che veicolano esperienze e saperi creando mutui legami. Ponendo al centro dell’analisi la questione delle circolazioni, i saggi qui raccolti focalizzano figure cangianti, a volte con legami di appartenenza fluidi e mobili. Si tratta di medici di corte, capaci di curare i corpi e di penetrare gli animi, che assumono il ruolo di informatori o mediatori , diplomatici che scrivono opere storiche e di riflessione politica, traduttori che manipolano testi e li adattano a nuovi contesti di ricezione, uomini di affari che nel mecenatismo culturale trovano risorsa non solo per strategie professionali e sociali ma anche per più ampi disegni politici, dissidenti che operano nella situazione dell'esilio. La considerazione della mobilità umana - di medici, letterati, diplomatici, dissidenti religiosi - si intreccia con la riflessione sulle modalità delle operazioni di traduzione, sull'uso del plurilinguismo, sull’emergenza di campi di sapere come la historia naturalis: sono risorse della mediazione culturale che aiutano a creare, anche in situazioni di contrapposizioni confessionali, dinamiche di interazione che ridefiniscono il terreno della difficile costruzione dell'Europa moderna.
