The Elderly and Old Age in a Russian Chronicle

The research, based on the material of the old Russian chronicles, intends to carry out a survey as accurate as possible on the old age, in order to catch every reference to reconstruct the image of the old man and the old age in its physical characteristics (decay, and other marks) and in its moral and intellectual qualities, representing the best virtues of senility (wisdom and temperance), but also those showing the signs of human weakness. The role of the elderly since the origins of Rus' often leads to the figure of the wise old man, guardian of the collective memory and and the ancestors' Heritage.
