"Le Soulier de Satin" is considered by critics not only as Claudel's masterchief, but also as his 'testamentary drama'. That's the reason why this work is regarded by specialists and translators as a real defy. The major difficulties the translator meets concern essentially the phrastic structure, which can reach a length of even 15-20 verses, because of: Claudel's accumulation of similitudes and comparisons; the various registers employed by Claudel who deliberately chooses to multiply scenes, characters and cultural differences, in view of representing the diversity of human life; finally, because of the extremely rich cultural background that Claudel's text demand, in a continual mix of thelogy, literature and history.

Abstract
"Le Soulier de Satin" is considered by critics not only as Claudel's masterchief, but also as his 'testamentary drama'. That's the reason why this work is regarded by specialists and translators as a real defy. The major difficulties the translator meets concern essentially the phrastic structure, which can reach a length of even 15-20 verses, because of: Claudel's accumulation of similitudes and comparisons; the various registers employed by Claudel who deliberately chooses to multiply scenes, characters and cultural differences, in view of representing the diversity of human life; finally, because of the extremely rich cultural background that Claudel's text demand, in a continual mix of thelogy, literature and history.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
