Edition, critical text, translation and commentary on Archilochus’ Elegies. The book analyzes all the fragments known to date, including P.Oxy. 4708 frr. 1-8, and adds some fragments considered spurious or not elegiac by the previous editors. The result is a comprehensive study of the Archilochus’ elegiac production, showing that the ancient author has a iambic aptitude also in this genre because in these texts he makes use of the spudogeloion mode.
