The chapter proceeds from the increasing differentiation of interests in contemporary societies in order to give account of the new forms of their representation and, on this ground, to analyze their influence on the traditional forms of interest representation such as trade unions and employers associations. The review of the empirical cases and theories, based on journals specialized on IR, HRM and organization studies benefits of the larger multidisciplinary debate about the new union strategies of interest organizing and the spontaneous organizations of workers interests. The state of the art shows a polarization of research interests between the American and British scholars. Socio-political implications of unrepresented employment are largely developed by American studies, while British research concentrates on the analysis of workplaces in order to monitor the process of de-unionization and the perspectives of direct participation. Contrary to the increased attention of the Anglo-American scholars, the European studies and researches on labour and socio-economics are still paying very limited attention to the implication of new social identities on the traditional modes of interest representation.

Abstract
Contrary to the increased attention of the Anglo-American scholars, the European studies and researches on labour and socio-economics are still paying very limited attention to the implication of new social identities on the traditional modes of interest representation.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
