Abstract: Our research was aimed at investigating whether primary school pupils (aged 7 – 11) feel the difference between simple arithmetic mistakes and misconceptions. We succeeded and as a by-products, we pointed out the distance between teacher’s assessment and self-assessment; furthermore we detected the relevance of teacher’s practice in developing pupils’ reflective thinking.
