L'identità industriale di una città e del suo territorio

This study presents some reflections and considerations on the industrial vocation of Bologna, that appears as a proper specificity of the history of the city in modern age. The excellence of the economic-manufacturer model – that bring Bologna to the international vertices - is the result of a long and laborious trajectory that is rooted in the XIII c., a trajectory marked by some extraordinary technical, organizational and urban planning innovations. Great attention will be lend to the prevailing areas of the excellence of Bologna: the manufacturing of hemp and skins, but particularly to that one of silk that will become an international emblem of the manufacturing ability of the city.
