The paper retraces the indirect manuscript tradition, the editorial and attributive history of one of the most famous fragments (or short poems) of archaic lyric poetry (Sapph. fr. 168B Voigt = PMG 976). The aim is not only to intervene on the attribution of the text, but also to verify, through the available evidence, one of the possible ways of constituting the ancient corpus of Sappho.
