“In this uncertain crossroad of continents”. The Asian Diary of Giorgio Messori — In his work Nella città del pane e dei postini (2005) [In the city of bread and postmen], a few months before his premature death, Giorgio Messori accounts his experience as a professor of Ital- ian Literature since 1999 at the University of Taškent. Between curiosity and melan- choly, following the lesson of Luigi Ghirri and Gianni Celati, Messori finds in the Uz- bek landscape a thoughtful and amusing estrangement. He questions on the evasive sense of a space that looks like an absolute elsewhere and involves reflections about the meaning of travelling and the worldview.
