This article examines the short popular poem conventionally entitled Admetus and attributed to Praxilla of Sicyon. The sayings of this Admetus are linked with a lost wisdom tradition connected with the mythical Thessalian hero and emerg- ing also in Bacchyl. Ep. 3,75-84. A relevant point of comparison can be [Plat.] Hipparch. 228b 4-229d 7, and in particular the section on the inscribed on the herms.
