Abstract

By way of formal analysis of Filastrius’ style, together with the study of the relationships between both Epiphanius’ Panarion and Augustine’s De haeresibus with Filastrius’ work, the present paper aims at showing how the so-called heresy on earthquakes, which is transmitted by the Diversarum hereseon liber (nr. 102), can be seen as witnessing Filastrius’ actual target, namely pagan philosophy as a whole.
