We propose cocrystallization to extend the use of natural products for environmental and agricultural purposes. We show that it is possible to design cocrystals based on essential oil constituents to adapt the release profile of the oils to different environmental conditions. The advantages of using cocrystals compared to pure oils in terms of antibacterial and antifungal properties are analyzed and discussed.

Abstract

We propose cocrystallization to extend the use of natural products for environmental and agricultural purposes. We show that it is possible to design cocrystals based on essential oil constituents to adapt the release profile of the oils to different environmental conditions. The advantages of using cocrystals compared to pure oils in terms of antibacterial and antifungal properties are analyzed and discussed.
