We would like to thank Dr del-Rio-Vellosillo and colleagues for their letter to the editor concerning our paper ‘Intrathecal 1% 2-chloroprocaine vs. 0.5% bupivacaine in ambulatory surgery: a prospective, observer-blinded, randomised, controlled trial’.1 To answer their questions, we would like to add to our paper that 49 subjects (24 in group chloro and 25 in group bupi) received spinal anaesthesia in sitting position while the other 81 subjects (42 in group chloro and 39 in group bupi) were lying in lateral (left of right) position. Then all subjects lay in supine position until sensory and motor blocks were achieved. Afterwards, subjects’ position was changed into the surgical position, if different from the supine. In fact, 45 subjects in the chloroprocaine group and 33 subjects in bupivacaine group were put in lithotomic position, while two patients in bupivacaine group were in prone position during surgery.
