This paper presents a worst-case approach to fixed-structure controller design with mixed H2/H∞ specifications for generalized SISO plants subject to structured/unstructured uncertainties. The design problem is reduced to an equivalent semi-infinite optimization problem for which a global solution can be reached through a genetic/interval algorithm. PID example illustrating the design of a PID controller attaining optimal minimax H2 performance for an uncertain nonminimum-phase plant is included.

Abstract

This paper presents a worst-case approach to fixed-structure controller design with mixed H2/H∞ specifications for generalized SISO plants subject to structured/unstructured uncertainties. The design problem is reduced to an equivalent semi-infinite optimization problem for which a global solution can be reached through a genetic/interval algorithm. PID example illustrating the design of a PID controller attaining optimal minimax H2 performance for an uncertain nonminimum-phase plant is included.
