The AA. have studied the proprioceptive innervation of the internal and external muscles of some domestic Mammals. Both in the internal and in external intercostal muscles the presence of muscle spindles and of tendon organs with a typical structure were observed; the tendon organs are few. The intrafusal muscle fibres are of two types: the nuclear -bag and nuclear-chain fibres; muscle spindles constituted exclusively by intrafusal nuclear-chain fibres are not present. Muscle spindles were referred to the three types of Ruffini's classification, but those of the complex type are more numerous. Paciniform corpuscles were observed in the perimisial connective tissue.
