A contribution to the Italian validation of the Adolescent Perception of Familiar Responsibility Scale (A.Pe.F.Re.S.): first data.

SUMMARY. Introduction: The Adolescent Perception of Familiar Responsibility Scale (A.Pe.F.Re.S.) is an instrument for the evaluation of late-adolescents perception of familiar responsibility. The purpose of this paper is to analyze the psychometric properties, factorial structure and reliability of a modified Italian version of the unpublished scale FRTS by Field & Yando (1991). Methods: The participants in the research were 299 adolescents (140 boys, 159 girls aged 20-30). The factorial structure of A.Pe.F.Re.S. has been examined with explorative procedures (SPSS program). Cronbach alpha coefficient was used to verify the reliability. Results: A two factor solution with a very good internal consistency of the questionnaire as a whole (α = .81) and of the two subscales (α = .84; α = .70) was confirmed. The instrument has shown concurrent validity with FACES III. Conclusions: At the end, the instrument shows good validity and reliability: its reduced dimensions, with reference to high reliability indexes, make this scale a quick, valid and useful instrument for the psychological research on the adolescent and their familiar relationships. Introduzione: L’Adolescent Perception of Familiar Responsibility Scale (A.Pe.F.Re.S.) è uno strumento per la valutazione della percezione delle responsabilità familiari dei tardo-adolescenti che vivono in famiglia. Il presente lavoro ha l’obiettivo di analizzare le caratteristiche psicometriche, la struttura fattoriale e l’attendibilità di una versione italiana modificata della scala FRTS di Field e Yando (1991). Metodi: L’indagine è stata condotta su un campione di 299 soggetti tardoadolescenti (140 maschi e 159 femmine; età 20-30 anni). La struttura fattoriale dell’A.Pe.F.Re.S. è stata analizzata attraverso procedure esplorative (programma SPSS). L’attendibilità è stata valutata mediante il coefficiente alfa di Cronbach. Risultati: È stata confermata una struttura a due fattori ed una validità interna molto buona del questionario (α = .81) e delle due sottoscale (α = .84; α = .70). Lo strumento ha dimostrato validità concorrente con il FACES III. Conclusioni: Complessivamente lo strumento mostra una buona attendibilità: le sue dimensioni ridotte rispetto agli alti indici di validità riscontrati ne fanno uno strumento agile, valido e di grande utilità per la ricerca sugli adolescenti ed i loro rapporti familiari.
