Recombinant DNA technologies have spurred great expectations regarding their possible applications, since they were first introduced in 1973, until the development of the first transgenic organisms in the 1980s (Newell McGloughlin and Burke, 2000). By consulting textbooks on this discipline, it is apparent that the possibility offered by the applications of genetically modified organisms (GMOs) are really exciting.
